Obituaries

Marilyn Mildred Meeks Holbrooks, age 87, of The Greens at Lincolnton, died on Saturday, July 6, 2024.

Her funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at Gloryland Baptist Church with Rev. Macon Ballard and Rev. Johnny Caldwell officiating.  Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday at the church.

Marilyn was born September 17, 1936, in Spartanburg, South Carolina, to the late Walter and Mary Ingram Meeks.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Holbrooks; daughter and son-in-law, Mildred and Charlie Cook; grandchildren, Jody Cook, Mason Holbrooks and Brianna Holbrooks; and all of her siblings.  Marilyn worked as a receptionist for Gaston County DSS.

She is survived by two sons, Larry Holbrooks (Kristy) of Lincolnton, and Ira Holbrooks (Amanda) of Dallas; daughter, Kathy Caldwell (John) of Lincolnton; grandchildren, Becky Perryman (Chad), Johnny Caldwell (Crystal), Kurt Holbrooks, Kristen Crumpler, Caleb Holbrooks, Simon Holbrooks, Isaac Holbrooks, Naomi Holbrooks, Faye Helms (James), and Jennifer Howell (Wesley); and great-grandchildren, Will and Tyler Perryman, Dillon and Eli Caldwell, Conner Dellinger, Olivia and Marissa Crumpler, and Morgan and Shelby Howell.
