Ralph Pinkney Lineberger, Jr.
( April 30, 1940 - July 18, 2024 )
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ralph Pinkney Lineberger Jr., of Lincolnton, on Thursday, July 18, 2024. Born on April 30, 1940, to Ralph P. and Dorothy Elmore Lineberger, Ralph was a lifelong resident of Lincolnton and a beloved friend, husband, father, uncle, grandfather and great-grandfather.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 25, 2024, in Hollybrook Cemetery with Rev. Ray Pennell and Dr. David Irish officiating.  The family will greet friends following the service.

A highly respected and popular member of his community, Ralph utilized leadership skills learned from his service in the United States Navy and National Guard to improve the lives of those around him throughout his storied, well-traveled life. He was a proud member of the American Legion, as well as the Lincolnton Housing Authority’s Board of Commissioners. Ralph was also an avid fisherman, a diehard NASCAR fan and a pioneer of computer technology in Lincolnton. Blessed with a remarkably generous nature, Ralph could fix anything – from a boat or go-kart, to a computer or any piece of machinery. He loved making people smile, and his soft spokenness belied a quick wit that could leave a room of people howling with laughter. He was a straight-shooter with a rifle and in conversation, and his untrammeled reputation for being honest was a catalyst for the immense amount of friends he made in his 84 years.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by son Ralph P. Lineberger III and brother Charles Lineberger. Ralph is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Rebecca Rudisill Lineberger; daughter Sarah Burns (Michael) of Valdese, and son Mark Lineberger (Jamie) of Gastonia, as well as grandchildren: Luke Lineberger (Trish), Aaron Burns (Tori), Jacob Lineberger and Riley Lineberger, and great-grandchildren: Tara Burns and Layne Lineberger, as well as brother Don Lineberger of Salisbury, and sister Cissy Ledford of Lincolnton.

A heartfelt thank-you is extended to the Cardinal Healthcare family and friends who provided care and support during Ralph’s time there.
