James Ted Hallman

James “Ted” Hallman, age 85, of Orange Park, Florida, and formerly of Lincolnton, passed away on Monday, April 29, 2024.

His funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Preacher Eddie Yount, of Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church, officiating.  Burial with military honors will follow in Hollybrook Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 12:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Following the burial, Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church will host a luncheon in the Family Life Center.

Ted was born June 14, 1938, in Lincoln County, to the late Clarence Richard Hallman and Cleta Seagle Hallman.  At 18, he joined the Navy and jetted off for San Diego for Navy Boot Camp. After a few years in Long Beach, CA, he was transferred to Sasebo, Japan, where the most significant event of his life took place, he met and married Mitsuko, his wife of 63 years, and mother to his two children, Jim and Jennifer.
 
After 24 years of honorable service, having received multiple medals, including Vietnam Service Medical (nine campaigns), Good Conduct Medal (fourth, fifth and sixth awards), and the Armed Forces Honor Medal 2nd Class. Ted retired as a Master Chief Storekeeper from the US Navy and moved his family to his hometown of Lincolnton, NC.

Four years later, after Jennifer graduated from Lincolnton High School and Jim graduated from Duke University, Ted and Mitsuko moved to Orange Park, FL, and Ted started a second career with the Defense Distribution Depot at NAS Jacksonville.

He is survived by his wife, Mitsuko Takada Hallman of the home; daughter, Jennifer Hallman of Florida; and son, James Richard Hallman, of Chevy Chase, MD.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church, PO Box 441, Lincolnton, NC  28093, the Hallman family church right next door to Ted’s childhood home.
