Obituaries

Mrs. Betty Jane Helms Martin, age 64 of 1672 Riverview Road in Lincolnton, passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2012. 

Her funeral service will be 2:00 pm on Friday, January 20, 2012 at Reepsville Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Hull officiating.   Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 pm prior to the service at the church.

Mrs. Martin was born July 5, 1947 in Lincoln County to the late Grady and Josephine Houser Helms.  In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Clyde Helms and a daughter, Linda Sue Martin.  Mrs. Martin worked in textiles. 

She is survived by her husband, J.W. Martin of the home; one son, James W. Martin of Lincolnton; three daughters, Betty Jean Martin of Cherryville, Tammy Sue Martin and Brandy Nicole Martin, both of Lincolnton; two brothers, Grady Helms and Darrell Helms, both of Vale; four sisters, Jeanette Canipe of Cherryville, Kathy Allen and Libby Allen, both of Vale, and Janice Kester of Cherryville; five grandchildren, Christian Tyler Martin, Jessica Brooke Martin, James Wesley Martin, Jenna Nicole Martin, and Erica Vee Sayre; and two great-grandchildren, Bryson Kail McGraw and Hayli Brooke Sayre.
