Mrs. Ruby Camilla Heavner Finger Sigmon passed away Thursday, January 26, 2012.
Her funeral service will be3:00 pm on Sunday, January 29, 2012 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church with Rev. Michael Collins officiating. Burial will follow in Hollybrook Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 2:45 pm Sunday in the North Wing of the church.
Mrs. Sigmon was born November 10, 1911, in Lincoln County, to the late A.B. and Ethel Houser Heavner and was preceded in death by husbands James Yates Finger and Charles David Sigmon and a son, B. Rodney Finger. She was a teacher and principal in the Lincoln County Schools for many years. After retirement, she volunteered as medical librarian at Lincoln County Hospital. She liked to travel and was active in church and community organizations. She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church and served as organist for several years. She helped organize and was a charter member of the Review Book Club, served on the Lincoln County Historic Properties Commission, and was active in the Democratic Women.
Survivors include one son, James Richard Finger (Gail) of Granite Quarry, NC; daughter-in-law, Nancy Finger of Garner, NC; grandchildren, Michael Finger (Christina) of Shelby, NC, John Finger of Willow Spring, NC, Paul Finger of Garner, NC, and Allison Gillies (Brett) of San Diego, CA; and two great-grandchildren, Savannah and Madison Finger of Shelby, NC.
