Obituaries

Mr. Randall Byron Koontz, age 64 of 246 Shady Lane in Lincolnton died Wednesday, February 8, 2012.

His funeral service will be 2:00 pm on Monday, February 13, 2012 in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Harvey Gates officiating.  Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 pm on Sunday, February 12, 2012 at Warlick Funeral Home.

Mr. Koontz was born November 21, 1947 in Rowan County to Ruth Ward and the late Byron Harrison Koontz.   He worked as a control room engineer for Duke Power Company with over 30 years of service.

He is survived by his wife, Vira Long “Vi” Koontz of Lincolnton, the daughter of Stacy and Ann Long of Charlotte; one son, Shane Koontz and wife Tina of Kearney, MO; two daughters, Leslie R. Koontz and fiancé Jason of Maiden, and Carrie Koontz Houser and husband Chase of Lincolnton; mother, Ruth Ward of Spencer, NC; one sister, Julia K. Holland and husband Chris of Vienna, VA; and seven grandchildren, Destiny Tolley, Kayton Houser, Josh Tolley, Eric Van Dyke, Tyson Beal, Jordan Tolley, and Hunter Houser.
