Obituaries

Mr. James Lytton Carpenter, age 74, of 1638 Roseland Drive in Lincolnton, died on Tuesday, February 28, 2012.

His funeral service will be 2:00 pm on Friday, March 2, 2012 in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kyeth Lindsay and Rev. Robert Ramsey officiating.   Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm on Thursday, March 1, 2012 at Warlick Funeral Home.

Mr. Carpenter was born January 20, 1938 in Gaston County to the late Robert Pinkney and Mary Lee Earl Carpenter.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two sons, James Junior Carpenter and Lonnie Ray Carpenter, and three brothers, Dan, Barry and Mack Dean Carpenter.  He worked in textiles.  

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary Schronce Carpenter of the home; one daughter, Cynthia Carpenter Rhodes and husband Gerald Thomas of Cherryville; five brothers, Douglas Carpenter, Ted Carpenter, Donald Carpenter, and Kenneth Carpenter all of Lincolnton, and Clayton Carpenter of Cherryville; four sisters, Elsie Scronce of Maiden and Evon Franklin, Wanda Ballard, and Mary Ann Rogers, all of Lincolnton; four grandchildren, Miranda Rhodes and Dustin Rhodes, both of Cherryville, and Lonnie Carpenter and Angela Rubio, both of Lincolnton; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
