Daniel Nicholas Morrison, age 22, of 1871 Swink Trail in Vale, died on Sunday, March 18, 2012.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at Covenant Bible Church with Rev. Mike Devine officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
Daniel was born November 1, 1989 in Mecklenburg County to Henry Christopher and Mary Childers Morrison. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Henry and Martha Morrison, maternal grandparents, Jack and Eileen Childers, and great uncle, William Childers. Daniel attended Maryvale Daycare, Battleground Elementary, Lincolnton Middle School, and Lincolnton High School. He was a member of St. Dorothy’s Catholic Church Youth Group and a member of the LHS 2007 NC state football champions. Daniel entered the U.S. Army in 2008 with the 164th Military Police Company. He served in Operation Iraqi Freedom in Iraq and Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.
He is survived by his parents, Chris and Mary Morrison of the home; two brothers, Sean Morrison of Pensacola, FL and James Morrison of San Diego, CA; two sisters, Shannon Morrison and husband C.J. Barnes of Lincolnton and Erin Dudley and husband Rob of Charlotte; niece, Scarlett Morrison; nephews, Lucas and Cooper Barnes; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Daniel was a fun-loving, kind-hearted, and generous man who brought light and laughter to everyone he came in contact with. He was a brave soldier who was revered and admired by his fellow soldiers. He was a wonderful son and brother. We will miss his shining presence. We know you are looking down at all of us from the “Big Dipper.” We love you.
