Mr. Donald R. Buff, age 76, of Lincolnton, died on April 11, 2012.
Don was born on December 19, 1935, in Lincoln County. He was the son of the late Clee Howard Buff and Pauline Hovis Buff. He was a loving husband, Dad and grandfather. He attended North Carolina State University and then joined the United States Army. After serving his country he returned to North Carolina to continue his education at UNC Charlotte at night school while working as a Facility Engineer at Douglas Aircraft Missile Facility in Charlotte. When the plant closed, he enjoyed a long career with IBM working in a variety of assignments and ending up as Division Security Manager for Entry Systems. Don enjoyed working with his hands, spending time with his family and friends, and traveling with Dean.
Don Buff is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Billie Dean Buff; brother James Buff of New Hampshire; sister Linda Blackwelder of South Carolina; son Brad Buff and wife Ann of Raleigh; son Mike Buff and wife Susan of Lincolnton; daughter Kelly Barge and husband Rich of Fayetteville. Also surviving him are six grandchildren, Warren, David, Adam, Laura, Joe and Jake, and a great granddaughter, Charlotte.
The family will receive friends on April 12, 2012 from 6:00 until 7:30 pm at Warlick Funeral Home, 125 Dave Warlick Drive in Lincolnton. The funeral service will be held on April 13, 2012 at 11:00 am at Asbury United Methodist Church, 3097 Asbury Church Road in Lincolnton. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.
