Mr. Richard Harold Cantrell, age 76, of 3562 Maiden Highway in Lincolnton, died on Sunday, April 29, 2012

His funeral service will be 2:00 pm on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at Roseland Baptist Church with the body to lie in state for thirty minutes prior to the service.  Rev. Tom Teems will officiate.   Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at Warlick Funeral Home. 

Mr. Cantrell was born October 1, 1935 in Mecklenburg County to the late Edgar and Nell Ballard Cantrell. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Bill and Hugh. He served his country in the United States Army and then later worked as a machinist for Universal Machine.  Mr. Cantrell also served as a deacon at Roseland Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Cantrell of the home; a son, Richard Scott Cantrell and wife Angela of Lincolnton; a daughter, Kim Cantrell of Lincolnton; three brothers, David Cantrell and wife Sherry of Lincolnton, Jimmy Cantrell and wife Sharon of Stanley, and Bob Cantrell and his late wife Jewel, of California; two sisters, Sarah Cloninger and husband Keith of Dallas, NC and Diane Lunsford of Shelby; three grandchildren, Dylan, Taner and Tate; and a number of nieces and nephews.
