Obituaries

Peggy Ann Cloninger Hughes, age 78, of 137 Church Street in High Shoals, died on Friday, May 25, 2012.

Her funeral service will be 2:00 pm on Sunday, May 27, 2012 in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dickie Whitener officiating.  Burial will follow in High Shoals Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 1:45 pm on Sunday prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hughes was born August 2, 1933 in Gaston County to the late Non Edward and Julia Harwell Cloninger.  In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Moses Clifford Hughes, Jr.  Mrs. Hughes was a homemaker. 

She is survived by a son, Joseph “Joe” Charles Hughes of High Shoals; one daughter, Cheryl H. Dover and husband Steve of Dallas; two sisters, Betty C. Jones of Lincolnton and Martha C. Murphy of Stanley; and one granddaughter, Leah Elizabeth Dover.
