Sarah Lindley Stroup, age 95, of Lincolnton, died on Wednesday, May 30, 2012.
A graveside service will be held 3:00 pm on Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at Hollybrook Cemetery with Rev. Michael Collins officiating.
Mrs. Stroup was born September 12, 1916 in Chatham County, N.C. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert N. and Annie M. Lindley and her three sisters and brother. Her two husbands, Bruce Pearson and Chauncey D. Stroup predeceased her as well. She is survived by two step-children: C. Cecil Stroup and Jeanne S. Lockman. Her seven other step-children predeceased her: Lib Yelton, Dot Kiser, C.D. Stroup, Jr., Virginia Ellington, Bill Stroup, Paul Stroup, and Dan Stroup.
She is survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was an active member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church involved in many organizations. She was a school teacher and an artist. Her artistic specialties included making bread dough flowers and animals for pictures and domes. She grew many varieties of flowers and made beautiful floral arrangements for church groups, weddings and parties. She was always called upon to make her famous cakes and cookies for church events.
