Obituaries

Mr. Robert Eugene “Gene” Payseur, age 72, of 1033 Long Shoals Road in Lincolnton, died on Tuesday, July 3, 2012.

A memorial service will be 11:00 am on Saturday, July 7, 2012 at Landers Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Frank Herman, Rev. Hinkle Rayfield, and Rev. Steven King officiating.  Inurnment will follow in the church cemetery.   The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm on Friday, July 6, 2012 at Warlick Funeral Home.

Mr. Payseur was born October 18, 1939 in Gaston County to the late Oscar Robert and Mary Naomi Rash Payseur.   He worked in maintenance at Timken.   Mr. Payseur served in the United States Army Reserve until he was called back to the United States Army during the Cuban Crisis.  From there, he was honorably discharged as the rank of Sergeant.  He was also an avid hunter and fisherman and was a member of the Mason Lodge #263 in Dallas.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Neal Payseur of the home; two sons, Pete Payseur of Lincolnton and Sidney Vaughn Payseur of Bessemer City; one step-daughter, Drenda Smith of the home; one brother, William Kenneth Payseur and wife Linda of Lincolnton; two grandchildren, Daniel Von Payseur and Cassie Carrie Ann Payseur, both of Lincolnton; and a number of nieces and nephews.
