Obituaries

Mr. Louis “John” Harris, age 81, of 306 Abernathy Drive in Dallas, died on Saturday, July 14, 2012.

His funeral service will be 3:00 pm on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at New Heights Baptist Church with Rev. Cameron Dulan, Rev. Dick Whitener and Rev. Charles Ingle officiating.  Burial will follow in the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Cemetery in Hardin.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:45 pm prior to the service at the church.  At other times, the family will be at the home of Pat Harris, 208 N. Lincoln Street in High Shoals.

Mr. Harris was born July 28, 1930 in Gaston County to the late Reid A. and Ila Costner Harris.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Pete Harris.  Mr. Harris worked as a fixer for J.P. Stevens.

He is survived by four sons, Keith Harris, Tim Harris, Roland Harris, and Jay Harris all of High Shoals; one daughter, Katrina Hendricks of High Shoals; two brothers, Bob Harris and Max Harris, both of Dallas; two sisters, Lena Lorence of Ranlo and Margie Revere of Shelby; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and significant other, Pat Harris of High Shoals.
