Obituaries

Marie McMurry Cantrell Weiss, age 87, of 970 Old Lincolnton-Crouse Road, died on July 17, 2012.

Her funeral service will be 4:00 pm on Friday, July 20, 2012 in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Pauline Coffey and Rev. Nathan Grooms officiating.   Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 2:30 until 3:45 pm prior to the service at the funeral home. 

Ms. Weiss was born September 30, 1924 in Lincoln County to the late A.Y. and Macie Carter McMurry. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her first husband, Walter Aaron Cantrell and a grandson, Scotty Dellinger. Ms. Weiss was a retired minister of the Foursquare Gospel Church in Lincolnton.  

She is survived by four sons, Kenneth A. Cantrell and wife Diane of Crouse, Walter M. Cantrell and wife Peggy, Eddie D. Cantrell and wife Barbara, all of Lincolnton, and Tony B. Cantrell and wife Penny of Vale; three daughters, Joann C. Riffle and husband Bud of Lincolnton, Sandra C. Wright of home, and Robin W. Jenkins and husband Dale of Crouse; one sister, Martha Armstrong of Lincolnton; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and ten great-great-grandchildren.
