Obituaries

Mrs. Clara Alma Turner Peeler Bivens, age 77, of 2220 Drive Inn Road, Lincolnton died Saturday, August 18, 2012.

On August 18, 2012 we lost our HERO; our momma.  She was EVERYTHING we would like to be.  Our loss is Heaven’s gain.  Momma was born on November 19, 1934 to Alma Marie Jordan Turner and Clarence Calvin Turner.  Two days after her birth, her own momma; Alma passed away.  Her daddy, “CC” died years later.  Other loved ones greeting momma with open arms in Heaven are her baby sister, Gladys, first husband, Harry Peeler, second husband, Arles Bivens, daughter, Loni Hull, grandson, Adam Hull, brothers, George and Gene Turner and half-sister, Hilda Rudisill.

Momma is the “Wind Beneath Our Wings”.  As we grieve her death, we will continue to “fly” from the strength she has given us.  We will find comfort in each other and Peace through God.  Surviving children include, Debbe Scronce and husband, Jimbo, Libbie Peeler and husband, Chip Jackson, Terry Peeler and companion Dianne Bird, and Doug Bivens.  Other survivors are her special caregiver and family, Carol Peeler, her sister who took care of her growing up, Dot Scism, her half-siblings Rod Turner and Colette Walker.

Momma’s nine grandbabies, who adore their “Mamaw Bivens” are Josh Hull and wife Shannon, Zeb Jenks and companion, Trish Yoder, Zac Jenks and fiancé Sarah Shaffer, Elisabeth Jenks, Amy Avery Holz and husband, Frank, Tommy Avery and wife, Amber, Missy Peeler Mitchell and husband, James, and Nikki and Sean Bivens.  She also had two step-grandchildren Bo and Jordan Jackson.

Momma’s 13 great-grandbabies who loved their “Maw-Biv” are Kamryn, Taylor and Cadon Hull, Rebecca Buchanan, Leslie McNeil and Aaliyah Hodge, Madison and Miriam Avery, Jaiden Jackson and Rachael Holz, Chandler Peeler, Tyler Green and Jacob Mitchell.

Warlick Funeral Home is assisting our family with the arrangements.  We will receive friends on Sunday from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Warlick Funeral Home.  Mom’s funeral will be on Monday, August 20, 2012 at 2:00 at Calvary Baptist Church, where she was a member.  She will lie in state from 1:30 until 2:00 pm.  Her body will be laid to rest beside of her husband, Arles Bivens at Forest Lawn Cemetery.  Her beautiful spirited soul is already in Heaven, finally getting to embrace her momma, who she never got to meet.

As our tears flow because we miss momma, may God continue to send the butterflies to remind us of her “New Life”.

We request that friends make donations to Calvary Baptist Church or Palliative Care Center and Hospice House of Catawba Valley in momma’s memory.  We thank all of those who took care of momma, especially the “Hospice Angels”.  God Bless all of those who have prayed for our family.
