Obituaries

Virginia Sigmon Morris joined her Lord on August 19, 2012. 

A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at Denver Baptist Church.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm on Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at Warlick Funeral Home and then from 1:30 until 2:00 pm prior to the service on Wednesday at the church. 

She was born in Maiden, February 14, 1915, to Calvin and Fannie Skidmore Sigmon.  Gin and her beloved husband, Clyde, were married for 76 years.  She was a devoted member of Denver Baptist Church in Denver, NC.  For over 20 years, Gin worked with her husband at the Baptist Children’s Homes of North Carolina, assisting him in purchasing, decorating new cottages, and, most happily, as the caregiver of young women at the Unwed Mother’s Home in Asheville. 

Gin is survived by her husband, Clyde J. Morris; her children: Judith (Timothy) Ayers of Columbus, Ohio; Sandra (Johnnie) Lackey of Lexington; and Joel (Kathleen) Morris of Sherrills Ford; brothers: Patrick Sigmon and Kevin Sigmon; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be sent to the Baptist Children’s Homes of North Carolina.
