Obituaries

Gloria Diane McNeely Brooks, age 66, of 3659 Gastonia Highway in Lincolnton, died on Tuesday, August 21, 2012. 

Her funeral service will be 3:00 pm on Friday, August 24, 2012 at First Baptist Church of High Shoals with Rev. Doug McClain and Rev. Charles Ingle officiating.  Burial will follow in the Asbury United Methodist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 2:45 pm on Friday prior to the service at the church.

Mrs. Brooks was born December 10, 1945 in Cleveland County to Elizabeth White McNeely Philbeck and the late Bryson McNeely.  She worked as a seamstress. 

She is survived by her husband, Johnny Brooks of the home; three sons, Johnny Brooks, Jr. and wife Lesa and Jimmy Brooks, all of Lincolnton, and Jeffrey Brooks and wife Cindy of Maiden; four sisters, Gail Cabiness of Lincolnton, Janet Self and Gilda Towery, both of Cleveland County, and Rita Daves of Cherryville; eight grandchildren, Randy Brooks, Matthew Brooks, Bryson Brooks, Austin Brooks, Craig Perry, Jeffrey Brooks, Justin Brooks, Melissa Brooks; two great-grandchildren, Mady Brooks and Landen Brooks; and her mother, Elizabeth McNeely Philbeck of Cleveland County.
