Mr. William Earl Hoffman, Sr., age 87, of 3230 Brady Hoffman Road in Lincolnton, died on Sunday, August 26, 2012.
His funeral service will be 4:30 pm on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at Long Shoals Wesleyan Church with Rev. Jon Mann officiating. Burial will follow in the Pisgah United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:30 until 4:15 pm on Tuesday prior to the service at the church.
Mr. Hoffman was born December 6, 1924 in Lincoln County to the late Brady Jonas and Essie Myrtle Kale Hoffman. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Syvilla Lutz Hoffman, and his stepmother, Leila H. Price. Mr. Hoffman served in the United States Army during World War II having received an EAME Ribbon with six Bronze stars and two Overseas bars. He then worked as a carpenter until retirement.
He is survived by a son, William E. Hoffman, Jr. of Charlotte; three daughters, Robbie H. Burgess of Crouse, Lee Ann Cook of Lincolnton, and Sandra Tucker of Galax, VA; one sister, Essie H. Williams of Lincolnton; nine grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
