Obituaries

Bertha Mae Benfield Reel, age 97 of the Brian Center in Lincolnton, and formerly of Iron Station, died on Monday, August 27, 2012

Her funeral service will be 4:00 pm on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Phillip Tillman and Rev. Charlie Wilburn officiating.  Burial will follow in the Amity Baptist Church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 3:45 pm prior to the service at the church.  

Mrs. Reel was born June 9, 1915 in Lincoln County to the late James Bradley and Florence Perkins Benfield.   In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Milton Ephraim Reel.  She was a homemaker.

She is survived by a son, Larry Reel and wife Shirley of Iron Station; a daughter, Peggy Reel McClure and husband Scott of Alexis; one sister, Bessie Benfield Rudisill of Stanley; seven grandchildren, Danny Reel, Randy Reel, Lanny Reel, Timothy Reel, Lisa White, Melinda Royster, and Debbie Bolick; nine great-grandchildren, Shane Reel, Seth Reel, Zoe Bolick, Killian Bolick, Vivian Bolick, Alex Royster, Ally Royster, Covan White, and Gavan White.
