Obituaries

Mr. David Willard Lynn, age 70, of 2448 Ernest Huss Lane in Lincolnton, died on Wednesday, September 5, 2012.

His funeral service will be 3:00 pm on Friday, September 7, 2012 at the Lincolnton Church of God with the body to lie in state for thirty minutes prior to the service.  Rev. Dr. Richard King and Rev. Joel Shores will officiate.  Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 6:30 until 8:30 pm on Thursday, September 6, 2012 at Warlick Funeral Home. 

Mr. Lynn was born February 2, 1942 in Lincoln County to the late George D. and Georgia B. Long Lynn. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son, Christopher Shane Lynn.  Mr. Lynn served his country in the United States Marine Corps and then later was head of security for Dillard’s Department Stores for 29 years and retired from the City of Charlotte Police Department after 30 years. 

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Martin Lynn of the home; two sons, David Lynn, Jr. and Tony Lynn and wife Monica, all of Lincolnton; two brothers, Eddie Lynn and wife Jane and Wayne Lynn and wife Joyce, all of Lincolnton; six grandchildren, Julia Booksh, Taylor Lynn, Samantha Lynn, Dakota Lynn, Christopher David Lynn, and Joshua Shane Lynn.
