Obituaries

Mrs. Leona Pearl Mauney Yoder Wise, age 89, of 5663 Crouse Road in Crouse and formerly of Florida City, Florida, died on Saturday, September 8, 2012.

Her funeral service will be held at 4:00 pm on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at Reepsville Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Hull officiating.  Her body will lie in state for 30 minutes prior to the service at the church.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8:00 pm on Tuesday at Warlick Funeral Home. 

Mrs. Wise was born June 7, 1923 in Gaston County to the late Frederick Earl and Ocie May Clark Mauney.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl H. “Hal” Wise; one brother, Floyd Mauney and one sister Iola Barrett.  Mrs. Wise was a retired pharmacy clerk. 

Survivors include, one son, Dennis Yoder and wife Debbie of Bessemer City; one daughter, Betty Scronce and husband Dean of Crouse; four grandchildren, DeAnna Scronce of Gastonia, Misty Hughey and husband Andy of Crouse, Kyle Yoder and wife Virginia of Salisbury and Tyler Yoder of Lincolnton; two great grandchildren, Hunter Hughey and Carley Hughey; special niece, Joyce Thomas of Lincolnton.
