Obituaries

Mr. Boyd Richard Crump, Sr., age77, of 705 Pine View Drive, S.W. in Supply, NC, formerly of Lincolnton, died on September 23, 2012. 

His funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at Rhyne Heights United Methodist Church in Lincolnton with Rev. Kathy McAbee officiating.  Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 10:45 am prior to the service at the church.

Richard lived in Lincolnton most of his adult life with his wife, Jo Ann.  They owned and operated Scottie’s Gift Shop uptown for several years in the early 90’s. 

Our beloved father has passed on to be with our Lord Jesus Christ.  He was a simple, honest and friendly man who loved his wife and children.  We will miss him greatly, and the warmth of being in his presence.

Mr. Crump was born January 18, 1935 to Harvey Lee Crump and Virginia Rhyne Crump. He is preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Kirk Crump.

He leaves behind three sons, Wayne Crump and wife Estelle of Supply, NC, Boyd R. Crump, Jr. of Maiden, Timothy Scott Crump and wife Vicki of Mocksville; one daughter, Sherry C. Seagle and husband Larry of Lincolnton; two brothers, Harry D. Crump and Paul Crump both of Lincolnton; and four sisters, Margie Hamrick of Forest City, Joyce Ann McCurry and Faye Ross both of Lincolnton, and Brenda Mathis of Supply, NC.  Brenda was a special caregiver for Richard for the last several years of his life.  He is also survived by nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Palliative Care Center and Hospice of Catawba Valley, 3975 Robinson Road, Newton, NC 28658, or to Rhyne Heights United Methodist Church, 519 S. Madison Street, Lincolnton, NC  28092.
