Obituaries

Mr. Harold Houston Wood, age 76, of 5011 Chrysanthemum Lane in Vale, died on Thursday, September 27, 2012.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at Bethel Cemetery with Rev. Terrell Robinson and Rev. Kevin Miller officiating. 

Mr. Wood was one of nine children born June 29, 1936 in Copperston, WV to the late William Harold and Avanell Goldie Hendricks Wood.  He worked as a machinist. 

He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Hazel Carpenter Wood of the home; one son, Harry Houston Wood, Jr. and wife Colleen; two stepsons, Gerald “Stretch” Carpenter and daughter-in-law Deana Carpenter of Vale and Rusty Michael Carpenter and wife Donna of Lincolnton; three grandchildren, Taylor Beard and wife Hannah, Andrew Gillian, and Jessica Snook; and two great-grandchildren, Addison Beard and Madison Stewart. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942, or to Benny Hinn Ministries, P.O. Box 162000, Irving, TX  75016-2000.
