Obituaries

Girtha Moore Ramsey, age 96, of 3371 Rhyne Forest Road in Iron Station, died on Wednesday, October 17, 2012.

Her funeral service will be 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at Boger City Wesleyan Church with Rev. Jay Allen and Rev. David Schrum officiating.   Burial will follow in Hollybrook Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 1:45 pm prior to the service at the church.

Mrs. Ramsey was born August 29, 1916 in Rutherford County to the late Anderson and Zinnia Hamrick Moore.  In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Erman Hoyle Ramsey, a son, James Ray Ramsey, two sisters, and a granddaughter, Sandy Helms.  Mrs. Ramsey worked in textiles.

She is survived by three sons, Calvin Ramsey of Williamsburg, VA, Steve Ramsey of Lincolnton, and Sammy Ramsey of York, SC; six daughters, Aileen Caldwell of Lincolnton, Carol Ramsey of Charlotte, Virginia Kelly of Charlotte, Evelyn Hermelink of Locust, LaVon Strout of Charlotte, and Violet Sisk of Iron Station; fourteen grandchildren; and nineteen great-grandchildren.
