Obituaries

Katherine “Kate” Lorine Ewing Knight, age 88, of Flint Street in Lincolnton, died on Friday, October 26, 2012. 

Her funeral service will be 3:00 pm on Sunday, October 26, 2012 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Stanley Spence officiating.  Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1:45 until 2:45 pm prior to the service at the church.

Mrs. Knight was born January 15, 1924 in Lincoln County to the late Robert H. and Margaret Dorsey Ewing.   In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by brothers J.B. Ewing, Shorty Robert Ewing, Jr., Melton Andrew Ewing, and sisters, Ruth Peeler and Pauline Calfe. She worked as a secretary.

She is survived by her husband, Clyde L. Knight, Jr., of the home; two sons, Lee Knight and wife Kathy and Zane Knight and wife Donna, all of Lincolnton; a sister, Sue Ewing Jones of Lincolnton; sister-in-law, Grace Ewing of Lincolnton; six grandchildren, Elizabeth Ross Carpenter and husband Rusty, Sarah Ross, John Daugherty, Beth Medlin, Amber Miller, and Katie Knight; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
