Obituaries

Burgin Wilson Goodson, age 91, of the Brian Center and formerly of 3681 Goodson Road in Maiden, died on Wednesday, October 31, 2012.

His funeral service will be 3:00 pm on Friday, November 2, 2012 at Ivey Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Tim Matthews and Rev. Robert Combs officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1:15 until 2:45 pm prior to the service at the church. 

Mr. Goodson was born June 5, 1921 in Lincoln County to the late William Washington and Clara Drum Goodson.  He retired from Lowe’s Oil where he worked as a truck driver. 

He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Gladys Schronce Goodson of the home; one son, Kermit Goodson and wife Diane of Maiden; one daughter, Yvonne G. Cromer of Lincolnton; five grandchildren, John A. Cromer, III, Linda C. Goodson, Laura D. Cromer, Emily Walmsley, and Amy Hauck; and ten great-grandchildren.
