Obituaries

Mr. Aubrey I. Brewer, 72, of Lincolnton, NC, passed away suddenly on November 27, 2012.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 pm on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at Warlick Funeral Home.

He was born in Ripley, Tennessee on July 2, 1940, the son of Palmer and Margie Brewer.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a grandson Charles, sisters Ophelia and Wanda, and brothers Thomas and Chester. Aubrey lived most of his life in Machesney Park, IL.  After graduating from Harlem High School in 1958, he married the former Charlene “Cookie” Gear on June 23, 1962 at St. Bridget’s Church in Loves Park, IL. They celebrated 50 years of marriage together.  He worked for Security Building for over 25 years, retiring in 1992.  In addition, he was a member of the Gaston Agricultural Mechanical and Textile Restoration Association (GAMTRA). He liked to collect anything old and rusty.  He was a Free Mason and a Shriner.

He is survived by his wife, Charlene “Cookie”; three children, Christine (Robert) Calloway of Lincolnton, NC, Audra (Scott) Kaufman of Rockford, IL, Aubrey (Lynn) Brewer, Jr. of Machesney Park, IL; six grandchildren, Aubrie and Karlie Calloway, Sara and Marya Kaufman, Matthew and Stephanie Brewer; sisters, Inez Walters, Martha Bader, and Liz Weber; brother, Ronnie Brewer; and numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
