Donald Edward Kiser
( May 22, 1928 - December 20, 2012 )

Donald Edward Kiser, age 84, died Thursday, December 20, 2012 at Levine and Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville, NC. 

 

His funeral service will be 11:00 am on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at Hills Chapel United Methodist Church Family Life Center with Rev. Dr. Valerie Rosenquist officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Immediately following the committal service, the family will receive friends in The Nelson Center at Hills Chapel.  At other times, the family will be at the home.

 

Mr. Kiser was born in Concord, NC, a son of the late John William Kiser, father, and Hettie Cornelius Kiser, mother.  He was predeceased by his parents, a brother, John William Kiser, Jr., as well as a son, Nelson Carl Kiser.  He is survived  by his wife of sixty years, Frances McIntosh Kiser; his son, Gregory Edward Kiser; a daughter, Faye Kiser Cavin and husband Robert Wentworth Cavin of Huntersville; his youngest daughter, Emily Kiser May and husband Charles Raysor May, IV; and two grandchildren, Emily Matheson May and Charles Raysor May, V, both of Columbia, SC; his brother, Kenneth and wife Deloris; and sister, Juanita Kiser Comer.  In addition, he is survived by his seventeen nieces and nephews. 

 

He attended The Brawley School, and afterwards enlisted in the United States Navy until 1952.  While on active duty, he served during the Korean War aboard the USS St. Paul.  Following his years of service, he began his career with PC Godfrey, Inc. in Charlotte where he worked until his retirement in 1990.  He was an active member of American Legion Post #455 of Denver.  He was also a member of Hills Chapel United Methodist Church, where he served on the Cemetery Committee, and was recognized as a leader among The Methodist Men.  He was a devoted husband, father, and proud grandfather whose hobbies included gardening, farming, fishing and family.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the Hills Chapel United Methodist Church Sanctuary Fund, 988 S. Highway 16, Stanley, NC  28164, or Levine & Dickson Hospice House, 11900 Vanstory Drive, Huntersville, NC  28078.
