Obituaries

Mr. Clayton Sylvanus Hendricks, age 84, of 2264 Heavner Road in Lincolnton, died on Tuesday, January 8, 2013.

His funeral service will be 2:00 pm on Friday, January 11, 2013 in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Greg Qualls officiating.   Burial will follow in Hollybrook Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 1:45 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Hendricks was born October 17, 1928 in Gaston County to the late Furman and Julia Wilson Hendricks.   After high school graduation, he worked with the FBI until he was called to serve in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Upon his discharge, he worked as an accountant for the Wall Street Journal and later retired from J.P. Stevens after moving back home. 

He is survived by his wife, Lois Schronce Hendricks of the home; two sons, Kenneth Hendricks of Lincolnton and Clay Hendricks of Charlotte; one sister, Sue Beam of Bessemer City; five grandchildren, Mike Hendricks, Adam Hendricks, Katie Hendricks, Matt Hendricks, and Grant Hendricks; and three great-grandchildren, Cooper Hendricks, Braden Hendricks, and Avonlea Hendricks.
