Obituaries

Lillian Odell Abernethy Tisdale, age 97, of Carolina Care Center in Cherryville, and formerly of 102 Rock Creek Drive in Lincolnton, died on Wednesday, January 9, 2013.

Her funeral service will be at 3:30 pm on Saturday, January 12, 2013 in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Ingle officiating.  Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 2:30 until 3:15 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Tisdale was born October 2, 1915 in Gaston County to the late Henry and Bertha Rhyne Abernethy.  In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Preston “Bud” A. Tisdale, a brother, and four sisters.   She worked as a weaver for J.P. Stevens. 

She is survived by a son, R. J. “Joe” Tisdale of Nebo, NC; one brother, Henry Miles Abernethy, Jr. of Lincolnton; one sister, Ella Mae Heafner of High Shoals, NC; three grandchildren, Suzy Clary, Lynne McKaughan, and R. J. Tisdale, Jr.; and four great-grandchildren, Spencer and Cameron Clary and Mason and Alex McKaughan.
