Mrs. Edna “Marie” Mull Burgess, age 81 of 158 Walt Burgess Road in Lincolnton went to be with her Savior and Heavenly Father on Saturday, January 12, 2013.
Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at Southside Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Ingle officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm on Monday at Warlick Funeral Home.
Mrs. Burgess was born in Lincoln County on December 4, 1931 to the late Jesse Lee and Cora Lee Stevenson Mull. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Russell Burgess and two brothers, Cecil and Hugh Mull. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church. Mrs. Burgess was retired from Lincoln County Schools where she worked as the cafeteria manager at Lincolnton High School. She enjoyed many years of performing Gospel Blue Grass Music with her husband Walt and later with their sons in the Blue Grass Band, The Right Track.
Survivors include three sons, Bill Burgess of the home, Randy Burgess and wife Lou of Iron Station, Scott Burgess and wife Cheryl of Lincolnton; special niece, Sharon Mull Lineberger of Lincolnton; six grandchildren, Tony, Michelle, Susie, Emily, Rebecca and Kathryn Burgess; four great-grandchildren, Seth Towery, Faith and Gianni Leon and Morgan Burgess.
