Obituaries

Mr. Preston Goforth, age 83, of 109 Hillside Drive in Lincolnton, died on Friday, January 18, 2013.

His funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, January 21, 2013 in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Gibbons officiating.  Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery with military rites.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 1:45 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Goforth was born November 14, 1929 in Rutherford County to the late Lacy Thomas and Pearl Brannon Goforth. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Stowe Goforth.  Mr. Goforth served in the United States Navy and then later, upon his discharge, worked as a cook. 

He is survived by two daughters, April Blaydon and husband Tommy of Manns Harbor, NC and Michelle Parker and husband Tommy of Cherryville, NC; two brothers, Lacey Goforth of Cornelius and Glynn Goforth of Columbia, SC; two sisters, Margaret Green of Blue Ridge, VA and Katherine Lawson of Monroe, NC; and five grandchildren, Manoah Blaydon, Christian Blaydon, Heather Parker, Kali Parker, and Brandon Parker.
