Obituaries

Polly Cummings McMahan, of Jacksonville Beach, FL and Denver, NC passed away Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at Abernethy Laurels in Newton, NC.  She was born in Asheville on December 31, 1940 to Linton Cummings and Vera Metcalf Cummings of which both preceded her in death.

She is loved and missed by her husband, C. Richard of 49 years, son Richard E. and wife Dale, daughter Kimberley Renee and husband Tod, brother Eddie and brother Rick and wife Helen.

Polly (Nana) will also be sorely missed by her four grandchildren Ashton, Thad, Matt and Abby.  They were her pride and joy and she especially enjoyed helping with things like creating boxes for Samaritan Purse’s Operation Christmas Child, helping decorate gingerbread men for Santa Claus’s Christmas Eve snack, and an avid fan of all their many activities.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 26^th in Polly’s honor at Denver United Methodist Church with the Pastors Jeff Johnsen and Jeff Harris officiating.  The family will receive friends immediately after the service in the old sanctuary.
