Obituaries

Mrs. Virginia Louise Meeks Elmore, age 87, of Vale died on Saturday, January 26, 2013. 

Her funeral service will be 11:00 am on Monday, January 28, 2013 at Messiah United Methodist Church with Rev. Kevin Miller officiating.  Burial will follow in Zion Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 10:45 am prior to the service at the church.

Mrs. Elmore was born June 1, 1925 in Lincoln County to the late William Edward and Ola Craven Meeks.   In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, T.M. Elmore and two sisters, Ruth Sailers and Dot Milstead.  Mrs. Elmore was a homemaker.

She is survived by two sons, Tim Elmore and wife Nancy of Vale, Tracy Elmore of Roanoke, VA; two brothers, James Meeks and wife Mary of Maysville, GA and Billy Meeks and wife Mary Sue of Lula, GA; three sisters, Edna Gowder and husband Bill of Maysville, GA, Mildred Sailers of Orange Park, FL and Peggy Gordon and husband Mike of Commerce, GA; one granddaughter, Dara Elmore of Durham, NC; one step-granddaughter, Amanda Rikard and husband Tracy of Lincolnton and one step-grandson, Phillip Young of Lincolnton; four step great-grandchildren; two special friends Rick Roberts and Tiffianna Honsinger.
