Mr. Fred Renn Seaford, age 86, of Lincolnton died on Sunday, January 27, 2013 at Levine and Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville, following an extensive illness.
A Celebration of the Life of Mr. Seaford will be 3:00 pm on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at Boger City United Methodist Church with Rev. Allan Van Meter and Rev. Joe Ervin officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 2:45 pm on Wednesday prior to the service at the church.
Mr. Seaford was born on November 2, 1926 in Cabarrus County, to the late Edward Gibson and Mary Honeycutt Seaford. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his five brothers and one sister. He grew up in the Odell community, attended Gilwood Presbyterian Church where he had seven years of perfect Sunday school attendance, and graduated from Odell High School. He completed business school at Carolina Business School before joining the Navy where he served as Radioman aboard the USS Ingersoll during World War II. Following this, he began his career in the hospital field completing a number of training and internships at Cabarrus Memorial Hospital in Concord. He completed the Hospital Administrator’s Management program at Duke University sponsored by Duke Endowment and served as Administrator at Spruce Pine Community Hospital, Davie County Hospital and Lincoln County Hospital. He completed his work career as an agent with AFLAC where he enjoyed serving many clients. He was a true gentleman and held himself to high standards in his business and personal life. Mr. Seaford was a long time member of Boger City United Methodist Church and served the communities where he lived in many capacities.
Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Betty Phifer Seaford of the home; one daughter Elizabeth “Beth” S. Summitt and husband Tim of Lincolnton; one grandson Jonathan D. Summitt (Liz) of Kings Mountain; one sister in law Nancy Seaford of Charlotte and numerous nieces and nephews.
