Obituaries

Mr. James Sylvester McGinnis, age 73 of 104 N. McGinnis Place in Mt. Holly passed away on Thursday, February 14, 2013 at Cardinal Health Care in Lincolnton.

His funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at Webbs Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Kathie Sherrill officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm on Friday at Warlick Funeral Home.

Mr. McGinnis was born in Gaston County on September 29, 1939 to the late James Otis “Ott” and Roxanna Pryor McGinnis.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Judy Elizabeth Cagle McGinnis and two brothers, Tony Dale McGinnis and George “Bucky” McGinnis.  Mr. McGinnis was retired from textiles where he worked as a warehouse supervisor.  He was a Charter Member of the South Point Life Saving Crew.

Survivors include one son, Jamie McGinnis and wife Amy of Denver; two brothers, Ronnie McGinnis and wife MaryAnn of Mt. Holly, Robert McGinnis and wife Carla of Leesville, SC; two sisters, Frances Wise and husband Papo of Mt. Holly and Delores Harwood of Mt. Holly; one granddaughter Addie McGinnis of Denver; 40 nieces and nephews.
