Obituaries

Edd Melvin Mason, 83 years old, passed away on Monday, March 4, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. 

A service to celebrate this wonderful man’s life will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, March 7, 2013 at Daystar Family Worship Center with Pastor Joey Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Iron Station Cemetery.   The body will lie in state for thirty minutes prior to the service.  Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 pm on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at Warlick Funeral Home.

Edd was born on November 25, 1929 to the late William and Mandy Mason.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by nine siblings, Loy, Ralph, Guy, Bill, Mose, Inez Whitworth, Elvie Lewis, Pauline Cunningham, Ella Sigmon, and two beloved daughters, Pamela Mason and Lawana Engle. He retired after many years of working in textiles.  He was a devoted member of Daystar Family Worship Center. 

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Jeanette Mason; his children, Mark Mason of Lincolnton, Eric Mason and wife Tracy of Crouse, and Kim Watson and husband Darryl of Lincolnton. Edd also leaves to cherish his memory twelve grandchildren, Joel Engle, Tabitha Engle, Casey Mason, Thomas Hoyle, Derek Watson, Stephanie Howard, Zach Mason, Luke Mason, Jake Mason, Nicholas Mason, Jeffery Cleaver, A.J. Curtis, and Summer Curtis; six great-grandchildren, Hunter, Haley, Peighton, Brantley, Elijah, and Emma; brother-in-law, Frank Smyre and wife Judy of Newton, and several nieces and nephews of the Mason family.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful hospice nurses who helped Edd and his family during the last month.  We really appreciate you.
