Obituaries

Norma Sue Rhyne Johnson, age 88, of Will Schronce Road in Iron Station, died on Friday, March 8, 2013.

Her funeral service will be 12:00 PM on Monday, March 11, 2013 at Pearl Baptist Church with Rev. Malcomb Ivey and Rev. William Wease officiating. Burial will follow in Iron Station Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 10:45 until 11:45 AM prior to the service at the church.  At other times the family will be at the  home of Wayne Johnson, 3046 Lee Lawing Road in Lincolnton.                                      

Mrs. Johnson was born May 2, 1924 in Gaston County to the late Lemuel Shuford and Eva Rankin Rhyne.  In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, James Elliott Johnson, a brother, Donald Eugene Rhyne and sisters, Thelma Abernathy, Odessa Mauney and Polly Flowers, and a grandson, Kevin Johnson. Mrs. Johnson worked in textiles. 

She is survived by two sons, Tommy Keith Johnson and wife Frances of Charlotte and Wayne S. Johnson and wife Margaret of Lincolnton; one daughter, Ann Johnson Ballard and husband Stan of Cherryville; one brother, George E. Rhyne of Gastonia; one sister, Katherine Green of Alexis; six grandchildren, Jeff Johnson and wife Lori, Keith Johnson, Jennifer Heavner and husband Damon, Allyson Boyle and husband Steve, Brian Johnson and wife Molly, and Olivia Austin; and five great-grandchildren, Kelly, Anie, Makayla and Sarah Johnson and Erika Boyle.
