Willie Jean Hutchins Abernathy, age 85, of 2217 Smith Street in Lincolnton, died on Sunday, March 24, 2013.
A graveside service will be held at 4:00 pm on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at Forest Lawn Cemetery with Rev. Robert Redding officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:30 until 3:30 pm prior to the service at Warlick Funeral Home. At all other times, the family will be at the home of her daughter, Kerrie, at 2746 Prince Drive in Lincolnton.
Mrs. Abernathy was born June 20, 1927 in Lincoln County to the late Sidney and Jeanette Withers Hutchins. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Lee Abernathy and a son, Kevin Gordon Abernathy. She worked as a nurse.
She is survived by five daughters, Sydelia Cooper of Vale, Pam Wright of Sherrills Ford, Gail Chaney, Wendy Smith, and Kerrie Seeley, all of Lincolnton; two sisters, Pauline Dysart of Lincolnton and Bonnie Locklear of Charleston, SC; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
