Obituaries

Vertie Virginia Sronce Tallent age 84, of 4046 Maiden Highway in Lincolnton, NC died Saturday, May 4, 2013.

Mrs. Tallent was born June 5, 1928 in Catawba County.  She was the daughter of the late Arthur Lee (Duke) Schronce and Eula Taylor Schronce.  She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Sherman Noel Sronce and Carroll Lee Schronce.  Mrs. Tallent died peacefully at home surrounded by her family as loved ones sang when Jesus welcomed her home.  She left this world to join in with the Choir of Angels. 

Survivors include her husband, Carl M. Tallent; sons, Noel Keener and wife Lou Ann, and Nathan Keener and wife Myra, both of Lincolnton, NC; daughters Pat Keener Garris and husband Jerry of Vale, NC, and Janice Keener Dellinger and husband Carrol Dean of Lincolnton, NC; brother Billy Gene (Buck) Schronce of Lincolnton, NC; and sisters Phyllis Ballard and Nancy Saunders both of Lincolnton, NC; eight grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. 

Mrs. Tallent was a homemaker and a charter member of Exodus Baptist Church where she played piano from 1969 until she went home to be with her Father.  Favorite pastimes included time with family, her church, singing, cooking and crafts.  She wrote many songs, poems and stories inspired by her life.  Those that knew her also know she loved her cats.

Mrs. Tallent loved her Lord, Family and Church. Vertie was a passionate Prayer Warrior, calling individual names of her family and many others daily.  She touched the lives of everyone she came in contact with leaving a mark on them as she blessed each one.   

Her funeral will be at 2:00pm Tuesday, May 7^th, 2013 at Exodus Baptist Church.  Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6:00pm-8:00pm Monday, May 6^th, 2013 at Warlick Funeral Home.
