Obituaries

Mr. James Francis Tipton, age 90 of 281 Shady Lane in Lincolnton, died on Saturday, May 11, 2013.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at Forest Lawn Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Stanley Spence officiating.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm on Monday, May 13, 2013 at Warlick Funeral Home.

Mr. Tipton was born June 5, 1922 in Spartanburg County, SC to the late John Crisman and Jessie Jones Tipton. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Nance Tipton and son, Charles Tipton.   He served in the United States Army Air Corp during World War II.  After leaving the service, he worked as an industrial construction foreman for Howard Construction. 

He is survived by two sons, Mark Tipton and wife Darlene Tipton of Lincolnton and Michael Tipton and wife Jill H. Tipton of Dallas; one daughter, Susan Setzer and husband Keith Setzer of Iron Station; daughter-in-law, Jill Tipton of Lincolnton; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. 

The family would like to thank the neuro staff at Gaston Memorial Hospital for the tender loving care they showed to our father and the family during his final days.
