Obituaries

Heaven received an angel, Dean Silman Nelson, age 77, of 2357 Highway 182, West in Lincolnton, on Friday, May 24, 2013.

Her funeral service will be 2:00 pm on Sunday, May 26, 2013 at Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm on Saturday, May 25, 2013 at Warlick Funeral Home.

Mrs. Nelson was born January 26, 1936 in Lincoln County to the late Clyde and Ruth Thomas Eaker. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Bill Silman.  After his untimely death, she dedicated herself to nursing. However, the love of her life was her sons and family. She was always a kind and gentle soul. She was employed as head nurse at Reid and Canady and retired from Lincoln County Home Health. She will be missed and mourned by the many people’s lives she touched. She truly made life better.

She is survived by three sons, Randy Silman of Cherryville, Bryan Silman and Mike Silman, both of Lincolnton; one brother, Lester Eaker of Lincolnton; one sister, Gertrude Cook of Lincolnton; two grandchildren, Christa Edwards and Amanda Khoury, both of Lincolnton; five great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Lisa McGhee of Lincolnton.
