Obituaries

Beatrice Jane Black Ryan, age 95, of 8063 Graham Road in Denver, died on Sunday, May 26, 2013.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at 11 AM in the Unity Presbyterian Church cemetery with Rev. Tim Killian officiating.

Mrs. Ryan was born August 18, 1917 in Lincoln County to the late William C. and Viola Aiken Black.  In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, William Herbert Ryan; five brothers, Edgar E. Black, William T. Black, W. C. Black, Jr., Avery T. Black, and Dariel G. Black; and two sisters, Agnes G. Perkins and Willie Mae Perkins.  Mrs. Ryan lived in Fanwood, New Jersey for 30 years, where she was a homemaker.

She is survived by a son, William Elliott Ryan of New Jersey; three daughters, Teresa Ryan Kent of New Jersey, Elizabeth Carolyn Ryan of Florida, and Frances Ryan of New Jersey; two brothers, Norman D. Black and Larry L. Black, both of Denver; three sisters, Annie Luckey of Charlotte, Virginia Dowdle and Lillian Greene, both of Denver; a granddaughter, Danielle Ryan Schafer of Florida; and an aunt, Eula Aiken Burns of Mount Holly.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Catawba Regional Hospice in Newton, and Unity Presbyterian Church in Denver.
