Joseph “Papa Joe” Augustus Polhill, age 78, of 815 Danbrook Circle in Lincolnton, died on Monday, May 27, 2013.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 3:30 pm on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. David Wyant officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
Mr. Polhill was born June 18, 1934 in Mecklenburg County to the late Joseph A. Polhill, Sr. and Martha Lambeth Polhill. He was an insurance agent with Polhill and Associates. Mr. Polhill also served in the United States Navy as a flight instructor then transferred to the Air Guard from which he retired after 30 years.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Kay Bolick Polhill of the home; three daughters, Robin Munnikhuysen of Maryland, Carol Polhill and Jenni P. Snider, both of Lincolnton; and one sister, Shirley Conner of Hickory. He was known as “Papa Joe: to his nine grandchildren and one great-grandson.
