Joel S. “Steve” Beard, Sr., age 68, of 1297 Shoal Road in Lincolnton, died on Wednesday, June 12, 2013.

The family will receive friends from 1:00pm until 2:45pm  Saturday at Warlick Funeral Home. His funeral service will be 3:00 pm on Saturday, June 15, 2013 in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Darrell Bost officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Mr. Beard was born May 28, 1945 in Catawba County to Faye Hullett Beard and the late J.D. Beard. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Ronnie Beard and brother-in-law, Wayne Parker. Mr. Beard retired from Mohican Mills where he worked as a supervisor in the shipping department.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Dellinger Beard of the home; children, Jimmy Angle and Sam, Joel “Dink” Beard, Jr. and Pug, Jeff Sain and Nova, Carrie Murray and Doug Arrowood, T.J. Beard, Daniel Sain and Kisha, and Princi Gantt and Mike; his mother, Faye H. Beard; brother, Rick Beard of Lincolnton; two sisters, Alene Parker of Maiden and Pat Hoppes and husband Bud of Maiden; sixteen grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Steve was loved by his many nephews, nieces and extended family and friends.

Memorials may be made to the hospice of one’s choice.
