Obituaries

Nellie Martha Ross Rayfield, age 90, of Kindred Nursing and Rehab, and formerly of 2072 Dean Lane in Lincolnton, died on Monday, August 12, 2013.

Her funeral service will be 3:00 pm on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Little officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:45 pm on Saturday prior to the service at the church.

Mrs. Rayfield was born April 22, 1923 in Fannin County, Georgia to the late Claude William and Vergie Gerrin Ross.  In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Alonzo Rayfield, a daughter, six brothers, and five sisters.  Mrs. Rayfield was a homemaker and a caregiver and mamaw to many children.

She is survived by four sons, Leo Rayfield of Lincolnton, David Rayfield of Greensville, SC, Tim Rayfield of Lincolnton, and Terry Rayfield of Morganton; a sister, Hazel Ross of Mineral Bluff, GA; six grandchildren, Josh, Quint, Jordan, Clay, Jason, and Benjamin Rayfield; five step-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild, Harper Rayfield.
