Obituaries

Stella Hatfield Lane, now absent in body but present with the Lord, passed from this world into her eternal home on August 20, 2013.  Stella was a devout prayer warrior and committed follower of Jesus Christ and left a legacy of His love and light throughout her 89 years of life.

Her funeral service will be 3:00 pm on Friday, August 23, 2013 at Grace Baptist Church with Rev. Bobby Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 2:45 pm prior to the service at the church. 

Stella was born July 17, 1924 in Valley Creek, TN to the late John and Millie Lawson Hatfield.  In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, George Washington Lane. 

Stella loved and cared for her family and others, receiving cards and letters from those whom she had stayed with and ministered to even in her elder age. Her presence always left an impact because of the love and good deeds she showered everyone with.  Stella loved growing vegetables and flowers, quilting, playing games with her grandchildren, doing for others, reading God’s Word, and listening to Gospel music and preaching.

Stella is survived by her daughter, Lois Stone and husband Keith of Lincolnton; six grandchildren, Melissa Haas, Jimmy Longmire, Melynda Ball, Brian Stone, Matthew Stone, and Doug Stone; 13 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
