Obituaries

Emily Roach Howard, age 75, of  Charlotte, died on Wednesday, September 4, 2013.

Her funeral service will be 3:00 pm on Sunday, September 8, 2013 at Alexis Baptist Church, Alexis, NC, with Rev. Dr. Sandy Marks and Rev. Scott Jenkins officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:45 pm prior to the service at the church. 

Mrs. Howard was born September 5, 1937 in Lincoln County to the late Henry Lee and Addie Lynch Roach.  In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Henry Lee Roach, Jr. and a sister, Joyce Roach Avery.  She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister and grandmother.   

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Max E. Howard of the home; one son, Max “Ed” Howard, Jr. and wife Kathy of Aiken, SC; one daughter, Kimberly Howard Latham and husband Steve of Waxhaw; three grandchildren, Edward Lee Viktor Howard of Aiken, SC; Emily Kaitlyn Latham and Samuel McCotter Latham, both of Waxhaw; two brothers, Tom Roach and Bill Roach, both of Lincolnton; four sisters, Linda Wilkinson, Martha Sigmon, Sandra Huffstetler, and Charlotte Lynch, all of Lincolnton; and many much loved nieces and nephews. 

Memorials may be made to Alexis Baptist Church, 118 Alexis Church Road, Alexis, NC  28006, or the charity of one’s choice.
