Obituaries

Rachel Blanche Hartsoe Houser, age 93, of 1289 150 W. in Lincolnton, died on Tuesday, October 1, 2013.

Her funeral service will be 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at Bethphage Lutheran Church with Pastor Robert Mitschke officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 pm prior to the service at the church.

Rachel was born October 25, 1919 in Gaston County to the late Cecil Crowell and Lana Friday Lutz.  In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husbands, Frank Houser, Jr. and Willie (Bill) Hartsoe.  She worked for the Lincoln Times-News and then retired from the Gaston Gazette. 

She is survived by a sister, Elsie Dellinger of Blacksburg, SC; two nephews, Carl Saine and wife Judie of Crouse, and Mark Dellinger and wife Tabitha of Blacksburg, SC; two nieces, Rita Beamguard and husband Jonathan of Clover, SC, and Lori Lutz of Maiden, NC; and a number of great and great-great nieces and nephews.
